A Memorial Day Tribute – Don’t Forget the Real Purpose for Today

27 May on Marriage & Family   Tags: , , , , , ,

While many are using this day to bar-b-que, drink and celebrate the day off from work, we must not forget the true purpose of  Memorial Day. That is to mourn the lost; the soldiers that lost their lives for our freedom. We must pay tribute to our brave servants that sacrificed their lives so that we can “celebrate” freely on days like today.

I personally appreciate your loved one for what they’ve done for the United States of America.For those of you that have lost a loved one in war, overseas or while serving our country, I pray that you find peace today and throughout your life. Here are a few Scriptures for encouragement;

There’s a Time to Mourn…

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: 2 a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3 a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance – Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth. – Ecclesiastes 7:4

Find Peace in Christ…

fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord; in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying; my soul refuses to be comforted. – Psalms 77:2

There’s Hope…

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. – Romans 8:18
When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” – 1 Corinthians 15:54-55
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. – Revelation 21:4

Stay Strong in the Lord…

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9
Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. – Isaiah 40:31

God Bless You on Memorial Day !
